What’s the smallest feasible size for a cycling track built at home?
errolcollen asked:
Can somebody give me some good advice, please? I used to ride a lot of bike races, but, for various reasons, it can’t really get out much now, so I’m considering building a racing track in my back yard. I don’t have much space - perhaps the size of half a tennis court - but I think I’ve heard of indoor tracks in Europe as small as 100 metres. So if this is to be just for one bike, will it be possible to train hard, for example such as riding an individual pursuit, on such a small track. It will work out to about 30 metres per lap. Also, as a further thought, out of what would one construct it? Wood, cement, just grass banks, and at what angles? Many thanks for any advice.
